Alberta Art Days at Smeltzer House

The ARTS and CULTURE COUNCIL of STRATHCONA COUNTY (ACCSC) is excited to be celebrating Alberta Arts Days and we invite everyone to join us.
Participate in inter-active demonstrations, and arts and craft projects, Saturday & Sunday. Learn from the artists and artisans that create the work, including, stained glass mosaics, ink on paper, and encaustics. There will also be demonstrations of weaving, quilting and pottery. Some Artwork will be for sale, by individual artists.
Dance Your Art Out by helping us create some large art canvasses. It’s your chance to have some fun and share your own personal artistic statement.

Other celebration’s happening this weekend: The Art Society of Strathcona County is celebrating its 25th Anniversary with an Art Cruise, at the A.J. Ottewell Centre, Saturday, September 18th.
Watch for the yellow, blue and red streamers identifying both locations on Broadmoor Blvd.

Mickey Rooney is a living legend. He has starred in more than 200 films and has been the recipient of Academy, Emmy and Golden Globe Awards. Mickey Rooney launches our Festival Place season with his production of "Let’s Put On A Show!" featuring his wife Jan, a trio of musicians, film clips, a little dancing, some singing, and stories of the Golden Age of Hollywood. You will enjoy a nostalgic visit with the artists of a bygone era like Ava Gardner, Judy Garland and Spencer Tracy. This show has sold-out every performance in Canada to date.

Develop your creativity, study with a Master! Eileen is from New York City, she gained recognition as both an artist and art educator and received her Masters degree in Fine Art from City University of New York. She has been operating her own art school very successfully since 1976. In 1984 Eileen moved to Edmonton. Now she teaches classes and has her gallery here in Sherwood Park. There is an Open Studio at SuttonArt every November. Beginner to advanced classesfor adults and teens, in painting, drawing, portfolio development, advanced critique, private instruction.All tuition at SuttonArt is Tax Deductible. Wye String Ensemble is pleased to present their third annual 2010 Strathcona County String Music Camp, to be held September 9,10, 11, and 12th, 2010 at the beautiful Camp Van Es. This camp is designed to assist string players of all ages and stages to develop their ensemble playing abilities. Sponsored by Strathcona County Recreation, Parks and Culture as well as the Alberta Lottery Foundation, join us for a fun and educational weekend.
